Echoes: 1st Night on Futura
Echoes
Musician JEWHI will release his new song Echoes on October 6th, marking the first chapter of the long-term project album Night on Earth by Futura Seoul. The song explores the theme of humanity, the first of four topics—human, nature, machine, and the future they will create—focusing on the most universal emotion: love.
This track was particularly inspired by Refik Anadol's Machine Hallucination Series, currently on display at Futura Seoul's 100 Poems (Gallery 4). Singer-songwriter Sam Kim participated in writing the lyrics, and the song blends emotional piano, vocals, strings, and acoustic sounds to craft a deep narrative.
The two musicians pose the question, "What does it feel like to fall in love?" This question may be directed not only to us but also to AI. Rather than offering a clear answer, Echoes reflects on the idea that, regardless of circumstances, love will happen. The song suggests that human love may be more than just an emotion—it might be a kind of "human hallucination." Much like Professor Choe Jae-cheon's insight, "To know is to love," it conveys that human hallucinations, like machine hallucinations, can be equally beautiful.
In Echoes, the first track of this project, JEWHI designed every step, from composition to mixing, aiming to create a unique musical experience where humanity, tools, and space resonate naturally.

⌜DISSOLVE INTO LIGHT⌟ is a 90-minute original sound project co-produced by Futura Seoul and HOLO, conceived as a chapter within Futura Seoul’s Night On Earth collaboration series. Drawing inspiration from the works of Anthony McCall—the featured artist in Futura Seoul’s current exhibition 《Anthony McCall: Works 1972–2020》—this project unfolds in two distinct formats: a live performance and an album, each independently conceptualized through the lens of McCall’s visual language. Of these formats, the album centers on eight studio-recorded improvisations that explore how sound, much like light shaping space, sculpts time. In these performances, the two musicians listen and respond to each other’s sonic gestures, together constructing unpredictable musical environments.

An Gwang Hyeon
An Gwang Hyeon is an artist who navigates across genres through improvisation, venturing into territories beyond notation—a domain not governed by reason but rooted in the unconscious and the spiritual. There, he discovers non‑verbal, non‑directive expressions buried without language, and—using his body as medium—brings them into articulation. In 2019, he was nominated for a Grammy Award as a producer for The Lost Boys. As a member of the sound design collective Secondemand, he has collaborated with brands like Prada, Chanel, Uniqlo, and nonfiction, exploring the synaesthetic qualities of sound. His recent album Selected Works (2022–2025) interprets the formality and structure of piano-based improvisation through spatial perspectives.
SungJae Son
Saxophonist and composer SungJae Son studied composition at Yonsei University, then honed his craft under jazz masters Bill Pierce and George Garzone at Berklee College of Music and New York’s Queens College. After releasing his debut leader project Nouveau Son, he went on to present several solo albums and formed the Near East Quartet (NEQ), releasing Chaosmos and Passing of Illusion while performing internationally in London, Paris, Sydney, Tokyo, Budapest, and Bezau. In 2018, he signed with the prestigious ECM Records, simultaneously releasing Near East Quartet worldwide to acclaim from critics such as DownBeat and All About Jazz. He has also earned the Korean Music Awards for Best Crossover Album at both the 13th and 16th ceremonies
