Art critic Geunjun Lim’s lecture, "Anthony McCall: A Chronological Overview," was held on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, at the Futura Seoul Lounge.
Presented as part of Futura Seoul’s second exhibition, “Anthony McCall: Works 1972–2020”—the artist’s first major presentation in Asia—this lecture offered a comprehensive exploration of McCall’s pioneering dialogue between light and space. Lim traced McCall’s artistic trajectory through his chronology and key works, highlighting his transitions and experimental approaches.
Particularly, Lim provided a nuanced and in-depth examination of the aesthetic expansion embodied in McCall’s Expanded Cinema and Solid Light series. The lecture further illuminated how, since the 1970s, McCall has transformed light, space, and audience engagement into fundamental artistic elements, while also surveying the enduring influence of his work on contemporary immersive and installation art.
